Our Story

1. JANA is a non-governmental, non-profit Organization. JANA’s is to act as an effective voice of Jordanian Alumni of North America's universities.

2. JANA is a networking group aimed at fostering professional communication among its members. As a Facebook group, JANA will use the power of social media to engage its members in cyberspace.

3. In this forum statements may be formulated and developed, educational programs and consortium may be established. Particular attention will be paid to young members to provide them with proper mentorship.

4. JANA's long term goal is to utilize knowledge, expertise, and resources to serve its community and to enhance scholarly activities.

5. JANA applies anti-discrimination policies among its members, and treats them equally regardless of their ethnic, race, or religious background.

6. JANA is a Facebook group that is open to public; there are no fees or cost to join this group. The work for now is limited to electronic communication and conference calls. However, this might change in the future pending approval of JANA members and the need that might arise to have a physical presence.

7. JANA is not affiliated with any organization. JANA depends the work of its members who volunteer their time and effort to make it more effective and beneficial. JANA’s work is in compliance with its members’ values and beliefs to serve the community and fellow members without compensation.

8. JANA is a transparent group that communicates clearly with all members. We represent ourselves at all levels. The decisions are based on group consensus that is achieved through voting.

9. All members are stakeholders in this group. JANA is led by its members. We believe in the concept that the goal of the true leader is to train more leaders than followers.

10. We have low threshold for unethical communications, posts that lack integrity or create political or religious conflict. We strive for a better tomorrow through public service. We believe that “Only life lived in service is worth living".

Membership

General Membership

Membership is voluntary and open (at different levels including non-voting membership) to all alumni of North American institutions of higher education, and to Jordanian students and professionals interested in advancing their education or career in the United States and Canada. Prospective members submit a membership form.

Board of Directors may approve classes of non-voting members who seek to support the mission of JANA.

Membership Dues

No Annual Dues

There are no annual dues; membership is free of charge.

Setting Dues by Vote

Any annual dues may be set by a motion to vote and shall be approved by a majority vote of the General Body members.

Capital Contributions

In the event any capital contribution shall be made or accepted, such capital contribution shall conform to the law of the State(s) of Incorporation.

Net Earnings Restriction

No part of the net earnings of JANA shall serve to the use or benefit of JANA Board members, officers, or other private persons.

Tax-Exempt Activities

JANA shall not carry on any activities not permitted to be carried on by a corporation exempt from federal income tax under Section 501-C3 of the Internal Revenue Code.

Dissolution of the Corporation

Upon the dissolution of the Corporation, the Board of Directors shall dispose of all assets of the Corporation exclusively for charitable educational or scientific purposes that qualify as an exempt organization(s) under Section 501 © (3) of the Internal Revenue Code, as the Board of Directors shall determine.
